Tetsuro Imai Artist Statement

My work exists at the intersection of tradition and modernity, craftsmanship and technology. By combining traditional woodblock printing with precise laser engraving, I explore new forms of expression.

Blending ukiyo-e techniques with manga art, I create works that feel both nostalgic and fresh. I cherish the textures of prints, honoring craftsmanship while seeking contemporary approaches. My art embodies Japanese aesthetics, intricate linework, and the warmth of handmade techniques.

Through Shibari art, I explore themes of eroticism, freedom, and restraint. By addressing gender and bodily liberation, I aim to provoke thought and emotion, offering diverse perspectives on society.

Additionally, through figures and stickers, I strive to make art more accessible and enjoyable. I hope people can experience the fusion of tradition and innovation through my work.

私の作品は、伝統と現代、手仕事とテクノロジーが交差する地点にあります。木版画の伝統技法にレーザーカッターを用いた精密な彫刻を融合させ、新たな表現を探求しています。
浮世絵木版と漫画技法を組み合わせることで、懐かしくも新しいアートを創造。版画のテクスチャを活かし、職人技への敬意を込めながら、現代的なアプローチを模索しています。私の作品には、和の美意識、細密なラインアート、そして手作業の温もりが共存しています。

また、緊縛アートを通じてエロティシズムとともに、自由と制約（束縛）を表現。ジェンダーや身体の解放をテーマに、観る者の思考や感情を刺激し、多様な視点で社会を捉えるきっかけを提供したいと考えています。

さらに、フィギュアやステッカーといったプロダクトを通じて、アートをより身近に楽しんでもらえる活動も展開。作品を手に取ることで、伝統と革新の融合を感じてもらえたら嬉しいです。
